Fluffy Naan Recipe

Do you ever want freshly baked naan for a quick meal or snack but don’t know where to start? Fear not, for making naan is quite easy-and this recipe doesn’t require yeast!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of plain greek yogurt
  • 1 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • Optional: garlic and butter for the topping or anything that fits your mood

If you do choose to create a garlic butter topping, be sure to mix and heat up the ingredients over in the pan for 5 minutes on medium flame

  1. First, mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl.
  2. Then add the yogurt and slowly start mixing with the spoon. Be sure not to pat down the dough, instead just slowly fold the dough into one another. After a few folds and once the yogurt is mixed into the mixture, start kneading onto a lightly floured surface.
  3. When kneading, keep in mind not to push into the dough, or the naan will be flat and dense. Gently use the palms of the hand to a fluffy round mound of bread.
  4. Cut the bread into 4ths and use a rolling pin to flatten each piece like a pancake. It does not have to be a perfect circle, though they should be around 6-7 inches.
  5. Now, place the naan circles onto the frying pan.! Each side of the naan should only take 2-4 minutes until it becomes toasty brown or develops bubbles, which can be popped w/ the spatula.
  6. After they are all are finished cooking, the naan is ready for eating with butter or with veggie/meat filling. Enjoy!
